Help Shape What Comes Next for Sincerely, Celisia (+ A $50 Thank You 🎁) (Issue #104)
Two years in, I want to hear from you: what’s working, what’s not, what’s next?
Hi friends!
As we’re at the start of Memorial Day weekend, I wanted to keep it short and sweet this week and do something a little different.
Sincerely, Celisia recently turned TWO, and I’m taking a moment to reflect on how it’s working, what could change, and what you actually want in your inbox. Even though we’re separated through computer screens, we’ve built a cool community here, and I want to make sure your voice is heard as we continue to shape this little newsletter into the best it can be!
Whether you read every word or just skim the headlines (no judgment!), your feedback truly means a lot to me!
It’s just a few questions and takes 2–3 minutes tops. As a thank you, I’ll be giving away a $50 Visa gift card to one person who fills it out. 💌

Seriously, your voice helps shape what this space becomes. Thanks for being here.
And now onto our regular programming! 😎
A round-up of things to watch, read, and listen to as you head into the weekend.
Mother Jones: “You’re Here Because of Your Tattoos” by Noah Lanard and Isabela Dias
This haunting investigative piece follows 10 young Latino men deported by the Trump administration, accused of gang affiliation based solely on their tattoos. Their loved ones swear they were innocent. The article paints a vivid picture of wrongful targeting, and it deservedly won the Sidney Award. You can also check out an interview with the authors about their investigation here.
Movie: The Fire Inside
This Claressa “T-Rex” Shields biopic is so worth the watch. Claressa, a boxer and MMA fighter from Flint, Michigan, won Olympic gold at just 17, and the movie captures not just her triumphs but also the struggles that came with them. We’re the same age, which made watching her story especially powerful.
Podcast: The Career Jigsaw
A few months ago, The Career Jigsaw contacted me for an interview about Truer Crime and my path as a creative entrepreneur! Their episodes cover everything from resumes to interviews to career pivots, all with advice from folks doing cool and meaningful work! My episode is live now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and Amazon Music!

After falling in love with Hurricane Cocktails in New Orleans last month (recap here). I’m excited to try this recipe at home. :)
Last week, I got my copy of *When We're in Charge: The Next Generation's Guide to Leadership by Amanda Litman and was so excited to jump in! Amanda co-founded Run for Something, where she’s built the kind of organization people want to work for. The book is full of practical advice for millennials and Gen Z on transitioning into leadership positions while upholding their values and adapting to our ever-changing world. I’ve really enjoyed it so far, and might be back with a full review in a few weeks. 👀
This Instagram reel titled “8 books that broke my brain and f*cked me up in the best way” had me adding half of them to my Libby holds immediately.
Last Friday, producer, writer, director, and investigative journalist Madison McGhee took over Sincerely, Celisia and shared her top recommendations. Check it out below!
Have a great weekend!
